In Fours to Heaven is a strategic level board wargame about the first campaign of the Second World War. Battle for Poland, that took place September 1st to October 6th, 1939. The game portrays dramatic clash between Poland and Hitler's Third Reich. It was the first introduction of what will be later called "Blitzkrieg" tactics. From military point of view, Poland was doomed from the start due to many reasons. Because of this, this story cannot be told without taking them into consideration. The biggest issue for Polish defenders was stubborn implementation of defensive "Plan West". It assumed Allied intervention or opening of the second front days after the potential attack. Many flaws of the plan and pointless actions, if the circumstances were different, caused quick downfall of Polish defenders.
